Our recommendation for this weeks comes in the form of model turned writer, Lad from Lancashire turned Londoner by the name of Gavin James Bower. His first novel Dazed and Aroused was published in 2009 and depicts the bleak and vacuous side of the modelling industry. His new work, Made In Britain, was published this month by Quartet Books and is a little gem. He is already being hailed as "An author to watch" and has received promising reviews in The Observer. Not only that but Made In Britain was also nominated for Not The Booker Prize. His writing is razor sharp and completely intriguing. He is definitely not one to miss. Posh
I am currently reading 'Posh' by Lucy Jackson, a bit behind with the times considering it was first published in 2007...but I never was the sort of person to do what everyone else is doing... However, enough time has passed and I have finally started to flick through its pages. Dealing with an upper class private school in Manhattan as a new year begins this is a great autumn read and I can highly recommend. . . .
GUD Magazine
I've been naughty and neglectful...but oh so busy, so surely forgiven?? Anyway, to make up for it here is a wonderful recommendation for you.... www.gudmagazine.com - a fantastic magazine which is about to start accepting submissions again (1st September 2010) - the criteria is high so it is well worth a read as well as having a go to see if you can make the cut. GUD Magazine reads works of literary and genre fiction, poetry, scripts and also enjoys having a ganders at art and comics. . . .

I have been trawling through writing websites for years now and I always like it when I find a good online magazine which publishes real talent. If you really want to read something set apart from the rest then have a look at 'Fringe Magazine'. They accept submissions at various times of the year for poetry, fiction, non-fiction, short shorts and art work and whatever you find here it is guaranteed to be something of note. www.fringemagazine.org . . .
